Shrill Society is a feminist lifestyle platform, founded by creative director, Amanda Brinkman after the overnight, viral success of her iconic Nasty Woman T-shirt design leading up to the 2016 presidential election. Shrill Society provides a socially-conscious consumer marketplace that makes and sells responsibly produced goods for-and-by women while giving back a portion of each purchase to organizations such as Planned Parenthood and ACLU.
I was contracted to work in creative collaboration with Amanda after meeting during the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy where I was the project Creative Director and Amanda, a social entrepreneurship fellow. Building upon the sardonic, tongue-in-cheek presence that was already in place, I developed an expansive set of brand guidelines and visual assets that enabled a sweeping expansion of Shrill Society’s *loud-but-cute* identity across all digital channels (online storefront, social media, newsletter, investment deck) and customer interaction touchpoints. This updated brand positioning also provided art direction to the product development of the Nasty Woman planner and Nasty Woman game: designed by Maria Hinds and illustrated by Eren K. Wilson. Amanda and I then co-created the promotional assets for the product launch parties, held across several states, occasionally sponsored by brands such as Maker’s Mark and Red Bull.
